It would be hard to find anyone who has even the slightest interest in knives not to be familiar with the name of Gerber. Of course, this is partly due to the popularity of their products, and partly to a large extent of their wide availability.

Not only are they available widely in hardware stores, but also in online stores ranging from Italian Stiletto, pick-locks, OTFs to custom switchblades knives and custom fixed blades and folders.
The point is simple — Gerber switchblades are everywhere and everyone loves them. Therefore, this article will help you discover which of the many, many different knives Gerber makes are the best and most worthy of your time, money, and consideration.
But before we do that, please take a quick look at the table below that shows some of the best Gerber knives available on the market.

FOR GERBER KNIVES, THE STEEL SHOULD BE UP TO THE MARK

I try not to be a knife snob, and judge them on their merits — you know, being fair. But in my over decades of living and growing up in the boonies, and living in a wilderness area, I know what is required in a knife in extreme situations. Even if you live in an apartment, there is no guarantee against the fact that at some point, your life may depend on the blades, and little else. That means good steel and by good, I mean it needs to be able to take a very good edge, hold it, and withstand the adverse situations — is really paramount when making a switchblade buying decision.
And this is where I fell in love with Gerber switchblades.

THE BEST GERBER KNIVES
EDC:
Gerber Manual Combat Folder — This is by far the best Gerber for EDC. The blade is made from S30V stainless steel, which is pretty good. At a beefy 7.62oz., you will know it is in your pocket and fills the hand nicely. This comes in a straight blade or combo-edge and it takes and holds a good edge.
Apple-gate Folder — This is a totally relevant knife for today’s deployed military. The design is powerful and highly adaptable for storage due to it being a folding knife. The blade holds the same strength as a fixed blade knife. This automatic knife can accompany its operator throughout any conflict. The Switchblade features a sturdy grooved handle and etched with the Apple-gate and Fair-bairn signatures on the blade’s face. The switchblade looks and feels as impressively balanced and sturdy as the name suggests.

You may have noticed that Gerber is on my ‘A’ list of knife makers. The knife has perfectly balanced performance and the dual thumb studs present makes easy one-hand opening of the blade. These are what my reviews are. Only you can determine what knife is best for you, and you may need to go through a lot of switchblades to find that perfect one.
